Overview

The Egyptian Museum remains the main place to display the Egyptian antiquities anywhere in the world. It features artifacts from the Pharaonic and Greco-Roman periods.

The Citadel,  situated on the Mokattam Hills of Old Cairo. Construction of the grand structure began in 1176 and was completed by Mohamed Ali Pasha, ruler of Egypt in the late 19th century. Mamluk sultans and Turkish governors resided in the Citadel, which is among the world's most splendid monuments of medieval warfare.

The Mosque of Mohamed Ali is located inside the Citadel of Salah Al Din in Cairo. It was built by Mohamed Ali Pasha (the founder of the Mohamed Ali Dynasty), on the site of Mamluk palaces. He had these demolished to make room for his new building, which is also known as the "Alabaster Mosque", The mosque’s twin minarets are the highest in all of Egypt, with a height of 84 meters.

Old Cairo today hosts a unique collection of monuments that attest to the shared cultural heritage of Christians, Jews, and Muslims.

The tour ends with a visit to Khan El Khalili, known as the Turkish bazaar during the Ottoman period, was built in 1382, in the heart of the Fatimid City.

The Bazaar reveal its secret of a wide antiques, handcrafts of gold, silver and copper as well as numerous old coffee shops.
